There is an old line that says: every step is the practice hall. The practice hall was the one room where the real thing was supposed to happen — the quiet room, the serious room. The line takes that room and puts it under your feet, wherever they are.
So the important part is not only in the important part. You call the corridor the bit in between — but you were alive in it. Add up all the bits in between and you have most of your life.
