Finish one thing today that is nearly finished. Not the big one. The small one that has been almost done for a week.
An old teacher said: someone standing on top of a hundred-foot pole has certainly got somewhere, but is not there yet. From the top of the pole, take one more step.
There is no step left at the top of a pole. That is the point. The step is off it — back down into the street, the kitchen, the ordinary afternoon. The top is not the finish. It is the place you come down from and start using what you climbed for.
