Come In and Sit Down

When you next come home, do nothing for two minutes. Do not check anything, do not start anything, do not put anything away. Take off your coat and sit.

The old phrase is four words: come home, sit down quietly. It sounds like advice about the evening, but it was never about the house. It was said to people who had spent years looking for something and finally stopped.

Coming home is not the door. Most of us walk through the door and keep travelling for another hour.

How long after you get in are you actually home?

The door is not the arriving. Sitting down is.
